UPLIFT PROJECT

Using job-specific modular prosthetic to put more amputees in the workforce
It starts with you, one hand at a time.

THE PROBLEM

In Vietnam, approximately 69% of the 5.1 million persons with disabilities are of working age. Only 30% of them have a job and a stable income to support themselves and their family.
- International Disability Rights Monitor, ‘Regional Report of Asia’, 2005.

STARTING WITH WAITERS & WAITRESSES

But why?

Amputees can easily get access to the job opportunity, Also, this is a public-facing, highly-visible and people-interacting job, which will create a strong message toward changing society’s perception about people with disabilities.
With Vulcan's specifically-made sockets tailored for waiter or waitressing, amputees will easily excel at the job.

VULCAN AUGMETICS & UPLIFT

Vulcan develops robotic arms, aiming to serve lower to middle income amputees in
developing countries through specific modules that can be attached to their daily-used prosthetic arm. We make them affordable, functional, beautiful, and effective for people to work and make their own income. To take a step further, we create UpLift.
UpLift mission is to put at least 10% of the amputee population in developing countries
newly or back to the workforce by 2025 through the synergy between technology
innovation, human empowerment and sustainable business practices.

IMPACT PROPOSITION

EMPOWERMENT

Uplift fosters independence and empowerment through giving amputees the ability to not only function, but to excel at what they do.

SOCIAL AWARENESS

Uplift aims to change how society sees amputees., but more importantly, how amputees see themselves, not as broken but  full of potential.

LIFE-LONG VALUE

Amputations don’t go away. We expect to be a life-long partner to our users, growing and sharing everything with them. Their success is our success.

OUR APPROACH

There are two parts to make UpLift a reality. Number one is the product. The first job-specific module that Vulcan is developing in relation with UpLift project is the Waiter module, specially-tailored for every waitressing task.
The second part is the partners. We work with NGOs and organizations that have connections and influence over the PWD community to help us raise awareness about the job opportunities, to empower amputees to join the force as well as to connect
the project’s beneficiaries with other possible resources and support.

WORK TOGETHER

Be a part of UpLift movement and transform society with prosthetic technology.
